대한민국이 개발한 초음속 전투기. 대한민국 공군이 도입할 예정인 4.5세대 전투기로 자체 전투기 개발 능력 확보 및 F-4 팬텀 II와 KF-5 제공호 등 노후 전투기 대체 소요로 추진 중인 대한민국 공군의 미디엄(Medium)급 전투기 개발사업 KF-X(Korean Fighter eXperimental)의 결과물이다.

A supersonic fighter developed by the Republic of Korea. It is the result of the ROK Air Force's Korean Fighter eXperimental (KF-X) program, which is a 4.5-generation fighter that the ROK Air Force plans to introduce as part of its efforts to develop its own fighter and replace its aging fleet of F-4 Phantom IIs and KF-5s.
